男女共同参画影響調査は、政府のすべての施策について男女共同参画の視点から調査及び分析・評価を行うもので、男女共同参画社会の実現を促進するために不可欠である。調査では性別データ等を活用して実態に即した情報を把握し、男女に対する施策の効果及び波及効果あるいは意図しない効果を検討する。また、分析・評価では施策によって男女が享受できる便益に格差がある場合、男女が等しく便益を享受できるように施策の改善されるべき点を明らかにする。今後においても実践的な手法の開発が行われ、各府省及び地方公共団体において積極的に実施されることを期待する。

Abstract
Gender impact assessment and evaluation that researches, analyzes and evaluates all government policies from gender perspective, is indispensable for formulating a gender equal society. In research, information on actual situation of men and women through data segregated by gender is gathered and analyzed indirectly or unintended impacts of policies on a gender equal society. In analysis and evaluation, if the gap between women and men in terms of benefits and services from government policies are recognized, government policies are revised from gender perspective so that men and women will be able to receive them. It is highly expected to develop the practical method and that national and local governments implement spontaneously gender impact assessment and evaluation.
